Our Volunteer Ushers make an important contribution to the Theatre, meeting and greeting the audience and providing a welcoming atmosphere for visitors.

Duties include:
Selling and serving refreshments before the show and during intervals
Collecting tickets and helping to seat people in the Auditorium
Sitting in during the show and dealing with any problems/disruption
Ensuring that the Foyer, Toilets and Auditorium are clean and welcoming
Handing out Publicity and questionnaires at the end of the show

The Little Angel Theatre is a magical and friendly place to work for, with a unique family atmosphere. Volunteers will all receive on the job training and there will be opportunities to work on the more creative aspects of the theatre as situations arise.

We offer all our volunteers a certain number of complimentary tickets as well as discounts on tickets during a run.

Skills/Qualifications Required

We do not require any formal qualifications but volunteers should be both numerate and literate and have good communication skills and a common sense attitude. Volunteers must like dealing with the public, be enthusiastic with a good sense of humour and should enjoy working as part of a team.

It is important that our volunteers are excellent timekeepers and are prepared to make a commitment to working the hours agreed with The Front of House Manager.

Fundraising
Help to keep The Little Angel running Fundraising is a bit like painting the Forth Bridge - no sooner have you got enough money pledged for one area of work, you have to start again raising money for something else. It's absolutely relentless, and The Little Angel, with both limited staff time and limited overall fundraising resources, needs all the help it can get to raise the money to keep its doors open and its magic available to everyone.

If you have some recurring time to spare, there are a number of ways in which you can volunteer to help us achieve our regular fundraising targets.

For example:
Help with research on corporate giving - identifying appropriate companies with a history of giving to the arts/theatre, arts in education, programmes for children.

Help with research on appropriate trusts and foundations - identifying trusts and companies whose beneficial areas are the funding of arts/theatre, arts in education, and programmes for children (as above), in the London area.

Help with introducing companies and individuals to the Company of Angels scheme.
Running a small-scale fundraising event yourself - if 100 people each pledged to raise £250 over the next six months, that would be enough to pay for our next show aimed at 2-5-year-old children, for example. There are a 101 ways in which you can raise money that are fairly easy and pain-free at the same time as being good fun. And the team at the Little Angel would be more than happy to explore your ideas with you, and help you with your own Little Angel benefit event.

If you think you can give us a fundraising hand, and any of these ideas appeals to you, or if you have your own idea, please write or e-mail:

Any assistance you can give us now and in the future would be most gratefully received.

We would especially welcome enquiries from older and retired volunteers.
