iSuppli and Syntax Show the Future of the LCD-TV Industry at FID 2004

iSuppli and Syntax Show the Future of the LCD-TV Industry at FID 2004

El Segundo, CA (PRWEB) November 4, 2004

Join iSuppli Corp. and LCD-TV maker Syntax Groups Corp. at iSuppli’s Flat Information Displays (FID) 2004 conference (Nov. 17-19, San Francisco)to learn how flat-panel technology is reshaping the television industry.

Syntax will host a press conference at FID to discuss developments in the television market and to introduce two important products that illustrate why global shipments of LCD-TVs are expected to grow by a factor of 10 over the next five years. Riddhi Patel, senior analyst with iSuppli, will discuss trends in LCD-TVs, presenting her forecast and examining the factors that are driving market growth at the press conference.

“Sales of LCD-TVs are rising rapidly due to several factors, most notably the dramatic declines in Average Selling Prices (ASPs),” Patel said. “ASPs have continued to decline in 2004 as large-sized LCD panels become available in greater numbers and as television makers attempt to attract consumers by offering increasingly aggressive price breaks and discounts. Furthermore, new players have entered the television market with LCD-TV products, delivering consumers more choice and lower prices.”

LCD-TV shipments will grow more than tenfold over the next five years, with production reaching 36.7 million units in 2008, rising at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 58.8 percent from 3.6 million in 2003, iSuppli predicts.

At the FID press conference, Syntax will introduce two exciting products that reflect the trend toward larger and less-expensive LCD TVs. Based in City of Industry, Calif., Syntax is one of the hottest new players in the LCD-TV market. Having commenced sales of LCD-TVs just six months ago, Syntax has made rapid progress in the market, and is on track to achieve approximately $ 150 million in revenue and plans to become a publicly held company during its present fiscal year, which ends June 30, 2005.

Syntax at FID also will be holding a drawing to give away three of its Olevia LCD-TVs. Three winners each will receive a 30-inch Olevia LCD-TV. Winners will be determined by a random drawing of registrations.

Syntax’ Olevia family of LCD TVs feature industry-leading specifications, including the highest contrast ratios for sharp, vivid pictures, dual TV tuners, VGA and TV split screens, DVI inputs with HDCP, ultra-thin flat panel LCD screens, fast refresh rates and response times, and 14-16 rows of transistors for image brilliance and clarity. Olevia TVs are high-definition ready, with resolutions of 1,280 by 768 and widescreen aspect ratios of 16:9.

One Year after Digital TV Transition, Big TV Sales Soar as Small TV Sales Sink, According to The NPD Group

One Year after Digital TV Transition, Big TV Sales Soar as Small TV Sales Sink, According to The NPD Group

Port Washington, New York (Vocus) August 18, 2010

Small TVs got a boost last June when the government mandate to switch to digital broadcasting took effect, but a year later, amidst a stronger economy, sales of smaller TVs have slowed as consumers are exploring bigger screens and advanced features, according to leading market research company The NPD Group.

Sales of 19” to 37” flat-panel TVs in the U.S. were down 21 percent year-over-year in June according to NPD’s Retail Tracking Service. The screen sizes that took the biggest hits were 19” and 26” showing 49 percent and 38 percent declines, respectively.

“As the analog cutoff approached, many less affluent consumers flocked to purchase inexpensive smaller digital TVs to receive digital broadcasts. This drove strong growth in the sub-32” segment that the industry has not been able to maintain,” said Ross Rubin, executive director of industry analysis NPD. “The scales have now tipped in favor of larger screen TVs as prices continue to drop and consumer interest turns to connected televisions, LED backlighting, and 3D — features that are more likely to be prominent in larger sets.”

Sales of flat-panel TVs 40” to 65” grew 26 percent in June compared to the prior year. Some of the strongest growth came from the larger screen sizes as consumers traded up. The 55”, 60”, 63”, and 65” flat-panels all experienced triple digit growth. But large declines in average prices also helped boost sales of 42”, 46”, 50”, and 58” flat-panel TVs.

Flat Panel TV Owners Likely to Own More TVs, Regardless of Country

Flat Panel TV Owners Likely to Own More TVs, Regardless of Country

Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) May 04, 2011

Recent findings from the new DisplaySearch Global TV Replacement Study show that the commonly-held assumption that households in richer countries own more TVs is true: the study found that households in developed countries own 28% more TVs on average than households in emerging countries. However, DisplaySearch found that, within nearly every region, the number of TVs per household for flat panel TV owners is greater than non-flat panel TV owners. In fact, the tendency for flat panel TV adopters to own more TVs was even stronger in emerging markets, indicating a stronger separation of buying power among upper and lower income classes.

“Whether a consumer resides in an economically developed or emerging country, those who are willing to adopt new TV technologies possess greater interest in owning TVs in general, have higher incomes, and can afford more TVs, or both,” noted Paul Gagnon, DisplaySearch Director of North America TV Market Research.

Gagnon added, “Owners of at least one flat panel TV in developed countries owned 30% more TVs per household than households that didn’t own any flat panel TVs. In emerging countries, the difference was even higher on average, with flat panel owners having 37% more TVs than non-flat panel owners.”

Number of TVs per Person Closely Relates to a Country’s Socio-Economic Standing

When looking at the number of TVs per household, the US has the highest number, while India has the fewest, as one might expect from a country with fewer households able to afford a TV. Despite this, some countries have a higher number of TV sets per household than might be expected, like Mexico, which ranked fourth among the countries studied. When considering the higher number of people per household, however, around 3.8 persons per household on average compared with 2.9 on average in the United States, the average number of TVs per person in Mexico drops towards the middle of the pack among countries in the study.

“When looking at the distribution of average number of TVs per person among the countries in the study, the top six were developed countries, with the emerging countries in the bottom eight. This shows a fairly linear relationship with socio-economic status, with India and rural China accounting for the fewest number of TVs per person,” observed Gagnon.

Weak Relationship Between a Country’s Economic Status and Replacement Frequency

The UK and Japan have been the most active in replacing TVs over the last three years among the countries included in the study. European countries have been active in general as well, with the end of analog TV broadcasts coming soon, necessitating the upgrades to a digital tuner equipped TVs.

However, some emerging countries, like Indonesia and urban China, have also been very active in replacing TV sets. Since these countries generally have less history of TV purchasing in general, the average age of TVs overall is lower than in very mature TV markets, like the US, so any replaced TV is likely to be younger.

On the other hand, countries like India and rural China, which are very different in terms of TV ownership profiles and replacement behaviors than urban China, have a very low level of replacement activity. This reflects a lower level of household income, as well as a tendency to be more frugal TV owners, preferring to hang on to TVs until failure, which can be a very long time.

DisplaySearch Global TV Replacement Study Now Available

How quickly are consumers replacing their TVs? Which countries have the shortest replacement cycles? And what key factors are driving TV sales? Kogan LED Arrives in Time for CES: Kogan Needs your Help with a Name

LED TV

(PRWEB) January 11, 2010

Kogan is very excited to announce the launch of the first ultra-thin Kogan LED TV range. On sale today are two TVs that represent another step in Kogan’s efforts to smash the competition on price and value. Kogan has also updated the design of its latest LED TVs with a stylish construction and frame.

There are two new Kogan LED TVs available at the following pre-sale special prices:

26-inch Kogan LED – $ 599

32-inch Kogan LED – $ 799

Kogan invites people to try to find a cheaper LED TV in Australia and is currently running a competition to come up with the name for its new ultra-thin LED range. Kogan is looking for suggestions that incorporate the key qualities of the LED viewing experience – ultra-thin screen, excellent picture and image quality, as well as strong and vibrant colours. The latest Kogan TVs also come in a stylish design, so this fact could also be incorporated with the name suggestion.

Kogan’s team will decide on a new name based on received entries and a new Kogan LED 26-inch as well as 32-inch Kogan LED TV will go to the person that creates the new name.

The competition is open to everyone and ends at the end of the month. All entries must be submitted via the Kogan Blog.

Best HDTV for Watching the Super Bowl

Best HDTV for Watching the Super Bowl

Sunnyvale, Calif. (PRWEB) January 3, 2008

For the price football fans would have to pay for one premium seat at the Super Bowl they can buy a big screen LCD or Plasma HDTV they can watch all year long. Retrevo analyzed Plasma TV and LCD TV user reviews, expert reviews, HDTV features, and the latest prices to come up with a list of recommended features and HDTV sets. Retrevo’s analysis included Sony LCD TV reviews, Panasonic plasma TV reviews, Pioneer plasma TV reviews, Olevia TV reviews, and Samsung LCD TV reviews.

Andrew Eisner, director of content at Retrevo says, “Fast action sports can place extra demands on a TV set. The last thing you want to see is streaks and blurs showing up on the screen.” Eisner added, “Retrevo picked the Plasma TVs and LCD TVs that have the best features to handle fast action sports like football or basketball.”

Rear Projection TVs still offer the best bang for the buck and Front Projection TVs come closest to a real movie theater experience but for this year’s Super Bowl, Retrevo recommending either an LCD TV or a Plasma TV.

Best TV Sets for Watching Sports

Plasma TVs have had a slight advantage for viewing sports programming because plasma can be turned on and off faster than a liquid crystal pixel. The gap is narrowing as more LCD TVs come out with faster (120 Hz) refresh or frame rates, faster pixels response times of 8 ms, and new MEMC (motion estimation motion compensation) chips to help minimize blurring. That difference should vanish and even favor LCD TVs when LCD TVs start using LED backlights that can be switched on and off and virtually eliminate blurring.

LCD TVs

Retrevo recommends any consumer willing to pay a premium for the Sony brand and wants one of the highest rated LCD TVs, to consider the Sony BRAVIA KDL-46XBR4 for around $ 2500 or the Sony BRAVIA KDL-40XBR4 for around $ 2200. Both sets run 120 Hz refresh and 8 ms pixel response.

Users say the Samsung LNT 4071F 40 inch LCD TV holds its own against Sony’s new XBR4 and XBR5 LCD TVs. It can be purchased for less than $ 2000 and offers 120 Hz refresh, 8 ms. pixel response, and 3 HDMI inputs.

Syntax Olevia has a reputation for delivering a quality LCD TVs at reasonable prices. The best values can be found in their 720p sets like the 37 inch Olevia 537H that can be purchased for under $ 700. For $ 800, you can get a 42 inch Olevia 242T. Both offer 8 ms response times but neither offers 120 Hz refresh.

What about Sharp LCD TVs? Sports fans living in Japan can buy one of the new AQUOS R series LCD TVs that Sharp claims are optimized with 120 Hz refreshfor high-speed scenes. Otherwise consumers are going have to wait or buy one of the current AQUOS LCD TVs like the $ 2,000 52 inch AQUOS LC-52D62U

Plasma TVs

Plasma TVs continue to provide high quality images with deep blacks and warm natural colors. The large glass screens are still susceptible to glare and the sets use a lot of power. These larger Plasma TVs can draw over 500 watts of power and use over $ 100 worth of electricity a year.

Pioneer dominates the Plasma TV market. The Pioneer PDP-5010 is part of their new KURO line that features 1080p resolution, 4 HDMI ports, and anti-glare treatment. The Pioneer PDP-5010 will cost you over $ 4,000 but received high marks from reviewers for great black levels and colors reproduction.

The 50 inch Panasonic TH-50PZ700U is another highly rated Plasma TV that will costs around $ 2500. This is the Plasma TV that Consumer Reports said was the “best flat screen ever tested.”

Really Big TVs

For consumers who want to have the biggest LCD screen on the block or perhaps the city they should check out the 70-inch BRAVIA KDL-70XBR3. It sells for a mere $ 30,000. It offers all the latest features including 120 Hz refresh and LED backlighting.

LG makes a 71 inch Plasma TV, the LG 71PYM TV, that will only cost you around $ 12,000, It gets mixed reviews and will most likely bump up your utility bill a notch.

For the ultimate TV consumers should look at the $ 69,000 Panasonic TH-103PF9UK Installers will need heavy equipment to get this 500 lb. beast in the door along with a hefty power line to run it but it is big and beautiful.

?Pimp My Living Room? Becomes a Reality for Many Americans: Booming Demand For LCD TVs.

“Pimp My Living Room” Becomes a Reality for Many Americans: Booming Demand For LCD TVs.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) January 3, 2006

2005 will go down in history as the year of the big screen LCD TV. Large screen LCD TVs have recently come down in price to be very competitive with large (40”+) plasma TVs. People who have been searching for the perfect flat panel TV screen can finally get it at a price they want. One thing is for certain: home entertainment will never be the same again: it will be bigger and better.

“We’ve seen the price drop below $ 1000 for some LCD TVs,” Said Michael Crow in a recent interview. However, some of the really high end LCD TV prices still run in the thousands.

The home theater trend has swept the nation in recent years with some families even going to the extent of installing lighted aisles and popcorn machines in their homes. Home projectors, plasma TVs, and LCD TVs can make the difference between a mediocre cinema experience and an incredible one. Some technologies have fallen by the wayside, while others (like flat screens) have made substantial in roads in living rooms across the country.

While both LCD TVs and Plasma televisions can deliver large screen pictures, they use different technology to deliver a state of the art viewing experience. Shipments of both types of flat panel screens are expected to increase in years to come as they replace older CRT monitors.

About lcdtvme.com:

With their corporate office in Houston, Texas, CEO Michael Crow and his research staff prepare detailed articles and information about LCD TVs. Lcdtvme.com provides LCD TV related content for home theater enthusiasts all over the world.

In a recent interview, Michael said he has many new site enhancements in store for people who are either considering investing in an LCD TV or are going to install a home theater.
