IsoSHRED Unveils Full Motion Push Up Equipment

IsoSHRED Unveils Full Motion Push Up Equipment

IsoSHRED Push Up Dumbbells

Seattle, Wa (PRWEB) February 17, 2012

IsoSHRED Fitness brings their Push Up Dumbbells to the scene of the home fitness equipment world, surpassing all other push up stands or push up bars on the market. The state of the art design behind the revolutionary exercise equipment allows the devices to move in all directions, transferring several advantages to the user and increasing the effectiveness of their chest workout.

Already, most critics are classifying the IsoSHRED Fitness Push Up Dumbbells as the new Perfect Pushups challenger in the industry. Not only does the IsoSHRED product provide a better overall chest workout, it also allows the user to perform abdominal exercises. This adds even more value to the product, making it worth every penny.

The genius behind Push Up Dumbbells is its multi-directional design. By having this capability in place, it forces the user to practice stabilization and use more muscles in the process than would typically be used during push ups on normal push up stands or push up bars. You won’t only feel a burn in your chest — you’ll get a deep burn in your shoulders, lats, and abs.

The abdominals are exercised when using the product in a similar fashion as an ab wheel. Again, this forces the use of more muscle groups, adds to the difficulty level, and results in a better, and more thorough, upper body workout. Anyone looking to gain a serious increase in strength should buy push up equipment from IsoSHRED Fitness.

To learn more about IsoSHRED Fitness and their revolutionary new push up equipment, visit their website and watch the push up dumbbells video. The product can be purchased online, directly from their website. You will also find many resources and valuable tips for using the Push Up Dumbbells and exercising in the most effective way possible.

Learn Every Brewing Method for Free at First-Ever Consumer Coffee Conference

Learn Every Brewing Method for Free at First-Ever Consumer Coffee Conference

Kevin Sinnott – Coffee Companion

Warrenville, IL (PRWEB) February 17, 2012

Enter CoffeeCON 2012, Kevin Sinnott’s creation. In the sleepy Chicago suburb of Warrenville, Illinois, he unveils this special day-long consumer coffee conference on Saturday, February 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the IBEW building, 28600 Bella Vista Parkway.

“Coffee is better than wine,” says two-time coffee author and brewing expert Kevin Sinnott. “But, wine comes ready to drink. Popping a cork is easy and screw tops even easier. Coffee must be prepared moments before consumption. Most home brewers destroy the subtle flavors. I’m making it my mission in life to give people a chance to learn how to appreciate coffee and how to brew it. More people have had good wine than good coffee.”

This coffee-obsessive is creating the ultimate first-ever consumer coffee conference that is drawing top experts from around the world to create a coffee university where they will teach every brewing method available.

“For years there have been conventions for coffee buyers, sellers and shopkeepers, but nothing for people who just drink coffee,” says Sinnott.

While the quality of beans has increased the ability to brew great coffee, it can often be a mystery to the average person. Then there are the coffee connoisseurs who want to expand their palates and knowledge of brewing styles but can’t experience everything, even at local roaster seminars.

“The French press can make or break your coffee if you’ve never learned to use it properly,” Sinnott explained. “Most automatic drip coffeemakers don’t get water hot enough. Or they expose the grounds to hot water long enough to extract bitterness. Then the consumer backs off the coffee formula and ends up with weak, bitter coffee.”

At CoffeeCON 2012, Sinnott is creating something for everyone.

Hands-on labs will be available to learn all the latest methods of Slow-Brew, including Chemex, French Press, Hario Drippers, and Syphon/Vacuum methods. Even Mustafa Arat of Turkish Coffee World in California has been invited to demonstrate how to make authentic Turkish coffee.

George Howell of Boston, one of the founding fathers of specialty coffee, will teach seminar attendees how to become discriminating coffee tasters. They will taste six coffees from around the world and catch the difference between new crop and past crop, ripe and unripe.

Home espresso expert Jim Schulman will teach Basics to Third Wave in his class. Participants will find their home espresso greatly improved after attending.

Geoff Watts, vice president of coffee at Intelligentsia Coffee and Tea will speak on what conditions lead to great coffee and the impact of quality at every stage from farm to cup.

BUNN will premiere the BUNN® trifecta® Micro Brew, a totally new coffee-making system with on-board computer technology, in a hands-on lab.

Other experts will teach home roasting, the history of coffeehouses, grinding and the impact of water quality. Each class will have credit hour value. Participants who complete five units will receive a Coffee Companion Certificate of Coffeeology.

Class sessions will be geared toward a dialog with participants to grow knowledge that will maximize their in-home coffee experience. Coffee classes run all day, with most classes 30 minutes long.

Not only are the classes available, but there will be great coffee to drink from a variety of roasters along with food and entertainment.

The event is free with online registration; but space is limited, and those who show up unregistered will pay a $ 10 onsite entrance fee. To see the schedule of coffee classes and to reserve tickets, go to CoffeeCon Eventbrite.

“This promises to be the ultimate coffee brewing event. I’ve learned so much, and I’ve had a great desire to share this knowledge with others. The web has brought a coffee information boom. Yet, we need to taste, see and touch all the available beans and gear – and we need to meet each other. What better way than to bring industry leaders, expert amateur icons, top coffee bloggers and manufacturers all together to mingle and share with passionate coffee drinkers,” Sinnott said. “I know everyone who comes will learn so much and be absolutely awed by the experience.”

Many of the nation’s top coffee bloggers will be on hand to report from the show, including Portland’s Robert Caruso, Jason Coffee and Eric Bice. The entire event will be live streamed to the world for those consumers who can’t attend. As added fun, Sinnott will also debate wine versus coffee in a humorous encounter with wine blogger Jennifer Stinnett of JenniferReviews, allowing the audience to pick the debate winner.

Host Kevin Sinnott has authored two comprehensive coffee books. His latest, “The Art & Craft of Coffee,” will be available at the event. Sinnott shook the established coffee world when he published The Coffee Companion consumer newsletter, the first of its kind that is still considered a coffee collectable. An outsider with no formal coffee education, Sinnott’s reviews of coffeemakers proved a hit with consumers. His blessing on various coffee products affected sales, causing manufacturers to both love and fear him. Now moved to the Coffee Companion Blog and Twitter handle CoffeeKevin, Sinnott continues to deliver cutting-edge unfiltered coffee reviews and irreverent but honest perspectives.

”As the economy tightens and coffee costs go up, the consumers who can’t brew properly will gravitate back to the bad old stuff. The good coffee producers will suffer. It need not be. Once you have had the best, chosen the best method for yourself and learned to brew properly, you will be a member for life,” Sinnott affirmed. “You can accomplish all three in one caffeinated day at CoffeeCON.”

Asked why as a consumer Sinnott has the audacity to create an event of this size and scope, he says, “Coffee is too important to leave solely in the hands of the trade. Like America’s founding, I want CoffeeCON to be an event by and for the people – people who drink coffee, not just sell it.”

CoffeeCON 2012 is partially sponsored by a grant from the Warrenville Hotel/Motel Tax Fund.

CoffeeCON 2012 Featured Presenters

George Howell, American entrepreneur and pioneer of the specialty coffee movement in the 1970s, founded The Coffee Connection, a high-end coffee retailer in Boston. His company was acquired by Starbucks Corporation in 1994, and formed the nexus of its expansion into the Boston area. He later founded the George Howell Terroir Coffee Company. An expert on single-origin coffee, he will talk about coffee tasting and methods that enhance the coffee experience.

Oren Bloostien, founder and CEO of Manhattan’s iconic Oren’s Daily Roast coffee shops, holds the title of Roaster of the Year by the Specialty Coffee Association of America. He knows coffee and will speak on the Chemex and SoftBrew methods.

Geoff Watts, vice president of coffee for Intelligentsia, is a veteran green coffee buyer. He travels the world in search of the best beans and builds relationships with sustainable farmers. He will share information about coffee farming, seasonality in coffee and how to select the best beans.

CoffeeCON 2012 Host

Kevin Sinnott, has authored two comprehensive coffee books. His latest, “The Art & Craft of Coffee,” published in 2011, will be available at the event. He has talked coffee with Oprah and the Food Channel. He was chosen to conduct an impartial consumer coffee tasting on 20/20. He’s been featured in USA Today and the Chicago Tribune. He produced The Coffee Companion consumer newsletter, the first of its kind that is still considered a coffee collectable. Now moved to the Coffee Companion Blog, here Kevin continues to deliver cutting-edge, coffee information and his witty, unfiltered commentaries. Coffee Kevin, as he is often called, is a captivating speaker and humorist.

Survey of Youth Soccer Coaches Reveals Knowledge Gap Between Concussion Awareness and Safety Measures for Players

Survey of Youth Soccer Coaches Reveals Knowledge Gap Between Concussion Awareness and Safety Measures for Players

Seattle, WA and Boston, MA (PRWEB) February 14, 2012

Korrio and Axon Sports released today the results of the inaugural Youth Soccer Coaches Concussion Awareness Survey, aimed at gaining valuable insights into youth soccer coaches awareness of concussions and concussion management tools. The survey, which polled more than 250 youth soccer coaches from around the country, revealed 75 percent of youth soccer coaches are “very” or “extremely” aware of sports-related concussions in youth sports, and more than 80 percent of respondents indicated their organizations have an established set of guidelines pertaining to player concussions. The survey also showed that coaches have a gap in concussion management knowledge, with only half of the respondents indicating familiarity with baseline testing, widely considered a best-practice protocol for concussion management.

To download the full results of the survey click here.

Korrio and Axon Sports will be unveiling the full results of Youth Soccer Coaches Concussion Awareness Survey later this week at the US Youth Soccer Workshop (booth #214), which takes place February 16-18, 2012, at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, MA.

While the survey results among the coaches for concussion awareness and guideline settings are encouraging, more education is needed regarding both overall awareness and, more significantly, baseline testing for youth athletes.

“We were certainly encouraged by the high-level of concussion awareness, but with 25 percent – that’s one in four – coaches still professing a lack of awareness regarding serious brain injuries to young athletes, we believe there is still a lot of work to do,” said Steve Goldman, CEO of Korrio. “That is particularly true with regards to baseline testing, which is a standard measure to assist medical practitioners in caring for injured players and making return-to-play decisions following a concussion. With the growing availability and affordability of baseline testing for youth athletes, there is no reason why any coach should not be aware of its benefits. Every player should have a baseline test for concussion management.”

The Korrio and Axon Sports Youth Soccer Coaches Concussion Awareness Survey, conducted Nov. 1 through Dec. 31, 2011, polled a mix of United States-based youth soccer coaches at all levels of the sport. The survey was designed to gauge youth soccer coaches’ level of concussion awareness and the strength of related organizational guidelines, protocols, education and training.

Knowledge Gap in Concussion Management Tools – Including Baseline Testing – a Concern

Survey results showed 49 percent of the responding coaches were not familiar with baseline testing for concussion management and only 20 percent have personally recommended baseline testing to players or parents. More than 84 percent of the coaches responded that their league, club or team does not currently recommend baseline testing for their players.

Baseline concussion testing is one of the most tangible concussion management tools available and is an industry standard, at the professional and collegiate level. Players take a baseline test prior to the start of the season to measure cognitive brain functions including attention, processing speed, and working memory for comparison to future results in the event of a head injury.

Traditionally a protocol that required doctor visits, baseline testing today can be administered through online tools, reducing the cost and increasing access for families.

“Baseline testing is a very simple and effective method for measuring cognitive brain functions and managing the return of players suffering from concussion symptoms,” said Axon Sports President and CEO Polly James. “It is a protocol that should be familiar to every coach and volunteer in youth sports, as well something parents and players should be very familiar with. These survey results indicate there is still education to do on a fundamental step to advance safety.”

Survey Reveals Lack of Education for Parents

The survey also reveals a gap in concussion awareness and education when it comes to the parents of youth soccer players. Of the coaches surveyed, only 56 percent reported their organizations offer some kind of concussion awareness education for parents.

Parents are crucial in the concussion diagnostic and recovery process, since they have more day-to-day exposure to their children than coaches. Educating parents regarding the signs of a possible concussion, as well as the stages of recovery, where they can help prevent the recurring damage that can occur when a child returns to sports too early after suffering a concussion is critical.

“While this survey focused on coaches, it is clear that parents play a key role in concussion management, and should be included in every step of the process,” said Korrio’s Goldman.

Year End Update: Photographer Rodney Rascona Covers the Drought in The Horn of Africa for The Paradigm Project

Year End Update: Photographer Rodney Rascona Covers the Drought in The Horn of Africa for The Paradigm Project

Boston, Massachusetts (PRWEB) February 09, 2012

After being awarded 2010 International Photographer of the Year: Deeper Perspective by the LUCIE Foundation last season for his work in Haiti, Rodney returned to East Africa on assignment for The Paradigm Project, an organization recognized by the Clinton Global Initiative as a member of the United Nations Global Alliance.

Rodney traveled to The Horn of Africa, to Dadaad, to create a series of portraits to help raise awareness and to help The Paradigm Project and subsequent organizations he’s facilitated with post production image licensing, such as Food For the Hungry and the United Nations Global Alliance, to play their part in response to the ongoing drought conditions in the region. A commercial photographer, Rodney’s portraits are inspirational, poignant, motivating and offer an intimate view of conditions on the ground as well as providing images which go beyond that which has been created via ongoing press coverage.

The Pink Door Photographs:

The Back Story: http://thepinkdoorphotographs-london.blogspot.com/

The Pink Door Photographs, his work from Haiti, continues to be embraced by organizations needing strong images to bring attention to the ongoing plight of the Haitian people. This year saw Rodney working with Executive Producer Phil Tidy/London and Final Cut/London, in the build of a clip to invite organizations to an exhibition to take place in London in Spring of 2012. Richard Hawley, one of Britain’s leading songwriters, lent his music “Last Orders” as a musical vista to be used behind Rodney’s photographs. Equally the internationally recognized portrait collection, will be curated by Myriam Blundell of Myriam Blundell Projects (http://www.myriamblundell.com) and is scheduled to be held at The Hospital Club in Covent Garden. The current and future life of this body of photographs, portraits that are vibrantly modern and present an image of hope, is to utilize Rodney’s work to generate interest and attention to Haiti’s people and the tremendous strife they continue to endure.

Kings of Kibera:

http://www.rascona.com/kings-of-kibera/photos-pi_27.html

While on a returning assignment from Tanzania to offer his support to a new orphanage, Rodney produced a pictorial essay on young hip hop dancers living in the world’s largest slum outside of Sowetto in South Africa, the Kibera Slums located just outside of Nairobi. A creative effort to produce a clip of raw, untrained dancers for an episodic pilot project in London, Rodney spent only a limited amount of time with a set of young men who have limited opportunities in their world. So together, they went to the streets walking from one location to another seeking the best place to perform throughout the slums. In the end, a burned out basement garage and a housing project served as backdrops to an ad hoc group pulled together by Rodney to help them reach an audience for their creative dancing, well outside of their humble existence within Kibera. Undeterred by the first rains in years, they pushed on to create an urban and texturally graphic body of photographs, pure, raw and unpretentious

“12”:

Exodus from Somalia

Inspired by the people he met while in Dadaab, specifically Somali refugees driven across the border lands into the camps within Kenya, Rodney is constructing an exhibition which will portray over sized portraits of those struggling to survive along the Kenyan/Somali border, presenting 12 women’s stories of survival, 12 voices,12 intimate profiles to be showcased in an intimate pop up location in greater London in the Spring of 2012. The work will be fresh, honest, unpretentious and immediate via the pop up experience, once again, where Rodney is leveraging his advertising skills, to graphically capture the attention of the viewer to inspire them to get involved.

Ongoing projects include the production of work on location in Guatemala, forays into film for The Paradigm Project in East Africa, will move into pre production of an independent feature documentary centered on the lives caught up in the grips of survival within the drought zone and continued work for The United Nations Global Alliance.

About Rodney Rascona:

Original Press Release: New York December 1, 2010

Veteran Advertising Photographer Rodney Rascona Named Winner

of Lucie Awards’ 2010 Photographer of the Year: Deeper Perspective

Announces Follow-up to His Award-Winning Pink Door Photographs from Haiti and

Upcoming Humanitarian Projects and Exhibitions for 2011

New York, NY – December 1, 2010 – Chosen from a pool of more than 15,000 entries from 103 countries, seasoned advertising photographer Rodney Rascona was recently named 2010 Photographer of the Year: Deeper Perspective by the Lucie Foundation’s International Photography Awards (IPA) for his series of iconic images from Haiti. Rascona’s work, The Pink Door Photographs, was celebrated and acknowledged by the global photography community at the 8th Annual Lucie Awards as one of this year’s most outstanding photographic achievements.

In partnership with The Paradigm Project, an organization recently recognized by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton at the 2010 Clinton Global Initiative, Rascona was invited to Jacmel, Haiti, just two months after a massive earthquake devastated the country to produce a collection of portraits exploring a message of hope. “I wanted to create a series of photographs that hadn’t been attempted before, at least not in a relief setting, to show the vitality and spirit that embodies the Haitian people, if only for a brief moment,” said Rascona. To that end, he captured forty-five survivors struggling in the aftermath of the disaster yet refusing to be defined by the images of dead bodies and massive rubble circulating the world. Conveying both hope and dignity, The Pink Door Photographs is a poignant collection of images created to inspire and motivate the global community to continue to assist in Haiti’s reconstruction and recovery.

In 2011, the first part of the photo series will be on exhibit in New York, Los Angeles, Mexico City, London, Barcelona and Dubai, as Rascona heads back to Jacmel to shoot a second installment of The Pink Door Photographs. With a cholera epidemic throwing Haiti back into the world spotlight, the award-winning photographer will revisit his original subjects to capture a firsthand glimpse into their lives one year after the earthquake. While there, Rascona will also travel to the capital city of Port-au-Prince to begin a new project addressing child slavery in Haiti. In capturing their stories he hopes to play his part in raising global awareness about this exploitative practice, giving voice and meaning to the lives of the more than 300,000 innocent children—known as resteveks—affected.

In addition to his work in Haiti, Rascona will travel to East Africa and London in 2011 to shoot a series of images for various non-governmental organizations. In January, he will return to remote desert villages in northern Kenya to resume his black and white portrait series of nomadic women and young girls living in the drought zones. There he will continue to chronicle their daily struggle to survive with limited supplies of water and fuel wood due to the effects of deforestation and climate change. In February, Rascona will travel to the Kili region of Tanzania to create images in support of Arnold’s House, a facility providing safe housing and educational resources for up to 80 children whose lives have been derailed by HIV/AIDS. He will then head to London to photograph a young woman suffering with cystic fibrosis highlighting the challenges of maintaining her stringent daily health regimen as she faces the typical issues of young adulthood.
